CANDIDA HISTORY (1993-1996)

Working with brothers Chris and Andy Troy and drummer Jerry Somers (who had played with the Monkees, Hunt Sails, and Ringo Starr), Swenson formed the band Candida, which moved away from roots approach of Drink Deep and back into a fiercer rock sound.

Long time Los Angeles Times music writer Mike Boehm wrote at the time, "Candida is definitely one of the greatest dynamic live bands you'll ever have the chance to experience."

The Long Beach Press Telegram's Tim Grobaty wrote: "Swenson, who's the most expressive, passionate vocalist you're eer liable to run accoss, seems to be even more so with Candida, which features musicians as intense as the vocalist... It's mesmerizing to watch him flail through his thrashing rockers and power ballads."
